What is Scrap? Scrap is an ability that allows one to enter and alter the minds of other people. Kind of like diving in the Ar Tonelico games, if that explains anything. However, this can be anything from influencing decisions to completely breaking one's psyche.

With Aoba, his voice is the "trigger" and his emotional state is the dial. Speaking in a certain tenor allows him to use this ability (though it's by and large entirely on accident at the canon point he's pulled from for Ruby City), though it's further amplified through direct contact with the target--touching, eye contact, etc.. Aoba has already shattered the mind of a brainwashed friend with Scrap (because wow that was a bad situation), so he's disinclined to use it ever. He doesn't understand it well enough to trust himself with it, so he suppresses it to the best of his ability.

Psychological mumbo-jumbo, medication, trying to suppress the ability, yadda yadda later and you get Aoba's id as a secondary personality that basically is the manifestation of that ability, the "other" Aoba. Destruction is his drug and all he desires. Aoba's rejection of him makes him fight that much harder to surface, and he gets stronger every time Aoba uses Scrap.

Scrap isn't all negative, however. Destruction goes just as much towards breaking a seemingly impossible mental obstacle just as much as breaking the mind. In canon, Aoba uses Scrap to remind one canonmate that he is still alive despite being trapped in a very dark, very binding past. He uses it to tell another to never give up because he's more than what's happened. He uses it to encourage yet another castmate to not give up and that he can't just call it quits, to let someone be themselves (which is more impacting than it sounds), and to tell someone they aren't shunned or forsaken but still loved. It's a tool to help just as much as it is a tool to hinder; it just depends on how it's used.

What does this mean for other characters? Honestly, it can mean almost nothing. Aoba isn't likely to actively try and use Scrap on anyone. Accidental Scrap would be limited to emotional employment of suggestion (for instance, Aoba uses it accidentally when trying to steer customers away from being creepers at him over the phone and towards buying things; he also does this when trying to get his bickering band of idiots to quit arguing so they can rescue his kidnapped grandmother--they do as he says and quit fighting, his emotional state making him able to use this ability against all four of them). The most they'd get out of that would be the suggestion and maybe thinking Aoba's voice is attractive. It is incredibly difficult for Aoba in his current state to even consider using Scrap on anyone, as he's still horrified by what it can do to people. He doesn't know how to help people with Scrap and is afraid he can't. The guilt gnaws at him.

So basically, unless the "other" Aoba slips out, there's not much to worry about. If the "other" Aoba gets out, though...

This is where the opt-out happens.

Other!Aoba isn't happy unless something's getting broken. Whether it's himself or someone else. This doesn't guarantee that he's going to use Scrap, though. He might just encourage fighting or something. If it isn't worth his time, it isn't worth his time. If it's in his way, he might just try to disable it unless he's actually in the mindset enough to try and dive-and-wreck with Scrap.

So basically this post is where you reply with how much you're willing or unwilling to handle your character(s) being Scrapped. I will default to no diving unless discussed and influence not necessarily working, but I mean to be on the safe side and all? I really do not want this to be an issue of me being blamed for godmoding (I won't play Scrap that way) or overstepping a limit I wasn't aware of, or whatever else might come up. Scrap is used to influence or deconstruct an aspect of the mind. Canonically, it can control people, but Aoba would never use it like that, and the other Aoba would find that boring.
