CHARACTER
Name: Aoba Seragaki
Canon: DRAMAtical Murder
Age: 23
Timeline: Right after the call from Virus

Personality: Aoba is... actually pretty normal by most standards, for a "recovering asshole" type of guy. He snarks, he smirks, he jokes, he cajoles, he whines, but he's--beneath that--a pretty decent kinda guy, generally good-natured in spite of his arrogance and the occasional childishness. He's earnest, tenacious, tries to be patient, sometimes compassionate to a fault, and tries to do right by those he cares about. A bit of a prude and sometimes too curious for his own good, when with a certain group of people? He's bound to end up in some kind of trouble or other. It doesn't help that at his core, he's a bit on the submissive side where his temper isn't concerned. Where it is, Aoba is a no-nonsense brand of strict. If you're pulling shit, he will call you out--he'll harp on it or even get more physical with matters. He prefers to give people a good tongue-lashing to resorting to violence. He doesn't like trouble, though, and he will dodge the Hell out of it if he can and it doesn't hurt anyone to do so.

Aoba is also largely... not very self-aware. If it has anything to do with him personally, you can pretty much bet that he's not going to pick up on it. If he's doing something that causes a certain reaction, it's going to go over his head. Not that he isn't perceptive at all, because he most certainly can be, and he can learn to catch onto certain cues. If something's wrong, he'll notice it, but he can't see into people where they don't want him to see. He will try, though, because he'll want to help. He's rather good at helping people calm down (or thoroughly distracting them from the shitfit they're about to throw). Helping is partly how he makes up for the kind of person he used to be. It doesn't do much for how jaded he can be, though.

Aoba used to be terrible. Picking (brutal) fights, fucking around, screwing with people... He was a real punkass little shit, for a while, though he had some degree of "standard"; if something was beneath him or uninteresting, he wouldn't bother with it. He went through a serious downward spiral after his adoptive parents left only three years after he'd begun to live with them and his grandmother, and that was just how he managed to pass the time when he got older. Before that? He just locked himself in his room. Not that it was entirely him doing all of that... Or, well. Not exactly the "surface" Aoba.

Aoba has a "split personality", so to speak. His ability manifested its own personality as a means of protection for Aoba's psyche. It's his "instinct" or desire to destroy, while the surface Aoba is the "reason". His id and ego. His superego, his "resistance", manifested as well and would later become Ren and inhabit the mechanical body of Aoba's precious AllMate. Basically what all this means is that Aoba has a secondary "personality" that wants to push him to destroy, and is as destructive as destructive can be. "Everyone is our enemy" is this Aoba's mindset. For all that he hates being locked up and longs to be free, "instinct" is also... very lonely. He hates that he's been shut away, ignored, and rejected. His true wish is to be accepted by Aoba and to be a part of him again.

When overtaxed, Aoba uses music to calm himself down; it feels like the coming and going of the tide, soothing away the problems and the aches and pains.

Background: http://dramaticalmurder.wikia.com/wiki/Aoba_Seragaki

Abilities: Aoba's decently skilled with computers and technology. He took an older model of a relatively complicated machine that'd been tossed out and tuned it up in a way that even the canon hacker couldn't quite figure out. Some of the hard work was done for him (AI programming) due to ~magical super ego being magical~, but he still did a good portion of it on his own.

Aoba also has the ability of Scrap. This is a strange power that allows the user to manipulate and "destroy" their targets via what is essentially a psychic "dive" into the mind of the target. This destruction can either be positive (breaking what holds them back, for example) or negative (destroying their sense of self, purpose, etc.). This ability is amplified when Aoba is in physical contact with the target, and it varies based on his emotional state. The ability is based around his voice, which can often cause problems. Aoba has had... admirers of his voice that he's accidentally Scrapped over the phone. One of the drawbacks of Scrap is that using it causes Aoba headaches--this is because of "instinct" trying to rise to the surface and growing "stronger", something Aoba fears as he does not understand his situation. Another drawback is that when using Scrap, both he and the target are rendered unconscious and defenseless.

More mundane, Aoba is a decently skilled fighter. Though not the strongest of his bizarre little cast, Aoba can still hold his own in a fight. He's particularly fond of roundhouse kicks and heel drops.

Slightly less mundane and not precisely an ability, but due to the nature of Aoba's birth, there are nerves that extend through his hair. Most often this results in contact being painful. Given hair being incredibly thin without much to protect the nerves within it, this is understandable. Sensation is duller towards the tips.

First Person:
[The first thing that shows up in the feed? Surprise. It mellows out to contemplation... and then defeat.]

Never take what you have for granted, that's for sure...

[It's muttered, not really meant for anyone else to hear. All the same, he sighs in resignation and faces things properly again. Well, as properly as one can when it's an outdated thing like this. Not that he has any issues with outdated things, he just... Man, this would be so much easier with his coil.]

Has anyone seen my AllM--my dog? He's toy-sized, dark blue? Answers to Ren? I haven't seen him since I got here, and I'm kinda worried.

[Understatement. Of. The year. Being without Ren is bizarre as Hell, and Aoba doesn't like it one bit.]

Third Person:
It was the rocking of the train that woke him. Side to side, like the tide on the shoreline but nowhere near as comforting. It was unsettling--he didn't remember boarding any train, and it wasn't like anywhere he'd be going on Midorijima would really require one or have one in service. Was there even one in service? Hell if he rememebered. More than that, he just felt... a strange sort of unease about the whole thing. Like he wasn't alone or something like that.

But ghosts weren't real. Right? Then again, he'd seen weirder--going into people's heads and shit was pretty hard to top, and ghosts and the like would probably look normal next to that. Plus, as far as he could tell? He was the only one in this car--maybe even on the entire train. Sounded like something out of a bad horror movie, if you asked Aoba, but... Well, the scenery kinda added to it.

Wouldn't be a bad place for a film crew to work with, he thought, though even his thoughts had that slight distressed lilt to them despite the dryness.

But no, seriously: how the Hell did he get here? It wasn't like he'd been kidnapped again--he'd definitely remember that, but he... He knew his memory wasn't really the best, whether out of not paying attention to bits of conversation or being overtaken by his other self, but this? This had nothing to do with any of that.

This was... This was stranger than that. This--Aoba wasn't even sure if this felt real--that strange. The uneasy feeling about that strangeness just got worse when the fog started.

Aoba recoiled away from the window he was seated by. The eerie scenery before suddenly nothing more than fog? Fuck, that was weird. Weird-weird. Fucked up levels of weird.

"Man, my life's been weird enough. Do I have to live a freaking horror flick, too?" Half-whined, half demanded, directed nowhere. Who could he even complain to, here? No one! Not unless he worked his way up to the engine, probably. Maybe the conductor... But he didn't really want to chance that. Not with how weird shit already was. With a grunt and a cautious look thrown at the rest of the car, Aoba reached into the duffel bag he kept to...?

"Wha?" Hazel eyes went wide. "Ren?" He yanked the strap over his head to set the bag beside him, dug desperately through it, and found... nothing he was looking for. "Ren!?" The little Spitz-shaped robot was nowhere to be found. But he'd been sure... "No, no-- Ren!? Where are you!?" Aoba darted between the seats, up and down the aisle, looking everywhere he could for sign of a dark blue ball of fluff or a deep toned "I am here". Instead what he got was knocked flat on his ass when the train pulled into the station.
